Ah yes, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… kind of.
I think it’s safe to say the majority of Eagles fans are more anxious to see the new kelly green throwbacks in action, but we’ll take a new black helmet in the meantime.
On Friday, the team unveiled their new black helmets that will presumably be worn exclusively with their all black attire.
You can never go wrong with all black anything. The black helmet will certainly look better with the all black uniforms than the original midnight green one did.
Buttttt I still think they could have done a little better here.
First off, all they changed was the color. The wings are still the same; there were no drastic design changes to the helmet at all. I also would have rather seen the matte black look, but I can understand why they just stuck with the normal shiny look that the midnight green helmets have.
Unfortunately, the team has not announced which games they’ll wear the black helmets for this season. A handful of teams have released new helmets and almost all of them immediately announced which games they’ll be featured in. As the Eagles Twitter account stated: “Games to be announced at a later date.” So, I guess we’ll just have to wait on that one.
It’ll be fun seeing all the new helmets in action this year. It’s about time the NFL loosened up their uniform policies. Glad to see the Eagles are keeping up with the trends.
