Eagles officially sign 15 players to their practice squad

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles officially announced 15 players will be signed to their practice squad for the 2021 season.

Each of the players officially signed were in camp with the Eagles and were waived on Tuesday.

Here’s the official practice squad as it stands right now:

  • S Grayland Arnold
  • G/T Kayode Awosika
  • T Le’Raven Clark
  • WR Travis Fulgham
  • WR John Hightower
  • RB Jordan Howard
  • RB Jason Huntley
  • CB Michael Jacquet
  • CB Craig James
  • DE Matt Leo
  • G Sua Opeta
  • C/G Ross Pierschbacher
  • S Elijah Riley
  • LB JaCoby Stevens
  • DT Raequan Williams

With these 15 players now officially with the team as practice squad members, the Eagles have two more spots to fill. Reportedly, the team is signing UDFA Marvin Wilson to their practice squad. Wilson was a 5-star defensive tackle recruit coming out of high school.

The All American lineman from Florida State signed a hefty $191,000 guaranteed contract to play for the Cleveland Browns following the NFL Draft. He certainly has potential and the Browns saw it that way too, but it just didn’t work out for him in Cleveland. A good find by Howie, Wilson is worth using a practice squad spot on.

Another important note from this practice squad group, Matt Leo does not count towards the 16 total practice squad players afforded to each team. This is because he’s an international exemption coming from overseas.

There are a handful of players who will likely be elevated at some point during the regular season. Both Travis Fulgham and John Hightower will be brought up if there’s an injury to any of the five wideouts on the roster. Jordan Howard or Jason Huntley could be brought up for a similar reason at running back. If the return game looks bland in the first few weeks of the season, that may also be a reason to bring Huntley up. He has game breaking speed and proved during camp that he could be the best returner on the team.

Defensively, look for Craig James to be the first cornerback brought up, with Michael Jacquet remaining on the practice squad for emergency purposes only.

Howie also decided to sign a handful of offensive lineman to the practice squad. Sua Opeta, Le’Raven Clark, Kayode Awosika, and Ross Pierschbacher are all solid prospects. Awosika, in particular, caught the coaching staff’s eye all throughout camp. He’s someone the team is very high on entering the season.

Once Marvin Wilson is officially signed, the team will have just one opening left on their practice squad.
