Jacob Eason, Washington
Like Hurts, Jacob Eason out of Washington is a project at the next level. In Pro Football Focus’s last mock draft they actually had the Eagles taking Eason with the 103rd overall pick in the third round.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Eason has the size you’re looking for in an NFL quarterback. His arm strength matches his size, as he possesses one of the strongest arms in this draft.
He struggles a bit with accuracy when under pressure or when his footwork is out of wack, but when he’s afforded time in the pocket he puts the ball right in his receivers’ bread baskets. Eason also has solid decision making on his throws, where he’s more likely to take a sack or extend the play than throw up a prayer down field.
He has all the tools to be a starter in this league, it’s his mental game that could use some work. He needs to learn how to get through his progressions quicker and not take unnecessary hits, but other than that, he’s a very solid prospect and one that I’m sure the Eagles already have on their radar.
