The Philadelphia Eagles 2022 schedule is officially here.

Based on opponents’ winning percentages from last season, the Eagles actually have the second-easiest strength of schedule. Obviously, there are a lot of expectations heading into the 2022 season.

So without further ado, let’s do out way-too-early season predictions for the Eagles.

Week 1: Eagles at Lions (9/11, 1 p.m.)

The Eagles will kick their season off against a team they completely dismantled 44-6 last time around. While Detroit is primed to be a little bit better in 2022, they won’t be good enough to avenge their beat down from last season. Similar to how the Eagles started last year, I expect Philly to get off to a fast start on both sides of the ball and flex on a lowly opponent.

34-17 Win, 1-0

Week 2: Eagles vs. Vikings (9/19, MNF 8:30 p.m.)

Kicking off their prime time schedule, the Eagles will host the Vikings for the home opener in 2022. As much as I want to give the Eagles another dub here, I’ve been around long enough to know a game like this has loss written all over it. Kirk Cousins always punches above his weight when he faces the Eagles, and I imagine Justin Jefferson will give us all a friendly reminder that we passed up on him for Jalen Reagor. As if any of us need one.

27-21 Loss, 1-1

Week 3: Eagles at Commanders (9/25, 1 p.m.)

For the first time since his departure, Carson Wentz will face the team that drafted him No. 2 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. This is without questions my most anticipated early season matchup for the Eagles. It’s early enough in the season that both teams, regardless of record, will have playoff aspirations. I expect this game to come down to the wire, and I imagine both quarterbacks will have trouble moving the football at a consistent rate. Nevertheless, Jalen Hurts will be able to make enough plays to out duel Carson in their first head-to-head matchup and Philly will walk away with bragging rights.

24-17 Win, 2-1

Week 4: Eagles vs. Jaguars (10/2, 1 p.m.)

Back-to-back revenge games within the first four weeks is always fun. Doug Pederson will travel back north to lead his Jaguars against the franchise he won a Super Bowl with. Jacksonville has made a plethora of moves this offseason to surround Trevor Lawrence with weapons, but I think the Eagles will have enough answers for Pederson and Co. Given his history against Jacksonville, I wouldn’t be shocked if A.J. Brown had a standout game in this one, en route to another solid early season victory for the Eagles.

35-20 Win, 3-1

Week 5: Eagles at Arizona (10/9, 4:25 p.m.)

Three straight games where the Eagles will face a former player/coach who played a huge role in the Super Bowl season. This time around, it’s Zach Ertz. The big thing to remember heading into this matchup is the fact that DeAndre Hopkins will be absent with his suspension. Regardless, the Cardinals have proven year in and year out that they’re a force to be reckoned with in the early portions of the year. I imagine the same dynamic will play out this year as well. The Eagles will put up points, but Kyler Murray will manage enough big plays to keep the Birds at bay.

38-28 Loss, 3-2

Week 6: Eagles vs. Cowboys (10/16, SNF 8:20 p.m.)

Of the first six games in 2022, this matchup with Dallas is without question the most pivotal. Dallas will probably have a similar record to the Eagles entering this contest. This game will be a big indicator on how much this Eagles team has actually improved from last year, and I believe they’ll be up to the challenge. In another SNF classic between the Eagles and Cowboys, Hurts will have some signature moments while the Eagles defense makes enough plays to win the game.

Week 7: Bye

Week 8: Eagles vs. Steelers (10/30, 1 p.m.)

The Eagles and Steelers will face off in Week 8 and add another chapter to this cross-state rivalry. Jonathan Gannon’s defense will more than likely face rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett in this matchup. While there’s always a chance that Pickett has his coming out party against the Birds, I have faith that Gannon and his defense will prove to be too much for the young signal caller. Both teams will struggle moving the football and I imagine it’ll be relatively low scoring.

19-13 Win, 5-2

Week 9: Eagles at Texans (11/13, TNF 8:15 p.m.)

Man do I hate Thursday night matchups. Especially against a trap opponent like Houston that could give the Eagles some fits on a short week. This will be a sloppy game from start to finish, but the Eagles talent alone should help them overcome the short week and escape Houston with another victory.

23-17 Win 6-2

Week 10: Eagles at Commanders (11/14, MNF 8:15 p.m.)

The second and final Monday night contest for the Eagles, they’ll head down to Washington to face Wentz and Co. for the second time. I imagine the Commanders will be hovering right around .500 at this point in the season, with hopes of a late season push towards the postseason. While the Eagles were able to do enough in Week 3 to leave with a win, Washington’s defense will come to play in Week 10 and bring the Eagles back down the Earth following three straight wins

27-20 Loss, 6-3

Week 11: Eagles at Colts (11/20, 1 p.m.)

This will be the second time the Eagles have faced Frank Reich since he left to become the Colts head coach. The first time around they still had Andrew Luck, this time, they’ll be relying on 37-year-old Matt Ryan to get the job done. Matt Ryan typically flakes against the Eagles and I expect the same thing to happen here. Fresh off a defeat in prime time to Carson, the Eagles will come out ready to play and leave Indy with their seventh win.

34-24 Win, 7-3

Week 12: Eagles vs. Packers (11/27, SNF 8:20 p.m.)

This should be a fun one. Both the Packers and Eagles should have solid records at this point in the season and the game will likely be heralded as a potential playoff matchup. Aaron Rodgers typically torches the Eagles, and he’ll certainly have his moments in this game as well. Miles Sanders and Co. should be able to run down the Packers’ throat, but without Hurts putting up big numbers, the Eagles will fall short.

31-27 Loss, 7-4

Week 13: Eagles vs. Titans (12/4, 1 p.m.)

A.J. Brown is going to absolutely kill his former team, who are we kidding. Tennessee was the No. 1 seed in the AFC last season, but they’ll come crashing back down to Earth this year without their best playmaker. With Brown carrying the load in this one, the Eagles bounce back from their SNF defeat and handedly beat the Titans.

37-17 Win, 8-4

Week 14: Eagles at Giants (12/11, 1 p.m.)

The first Eagles-Giants matchup doesn’t come until Week 14 this year. New York is once again expected to stink this year and they’ll most likely finish in last place in the division. This could fall into trap game territory. The Eagles have struggled up in New York over the past few years and I expect that trend to continue into this year unfortunately. It’ll be a very sloppy game, and fans will likely leave the game questioning just how good this Eagles team is. But, there will still be time to right the ship before the postseason

16-13 Loss, 8-5

Week 15: Eagles at Bears (12/18, 1 p.m.)

This should be a perfect bounce back game for the Eagles. Chicago is primed to be one of the worst teams in football next season. While I like Justin Fields, he has very little to work with on offense and they’ve lost a lot of defensive pieces. This should be a relatively easy win for the Eagles, especially after getting embarrassed by New York.

29-14 Win, 9-5

Week 16: Eagles at Cowboys (12/24, 4:25 p.m.)

Sirianni and Co. are going to pull out all the stops on Christmas Eve in Jerry World. Both teams will be vying for playoff positioning in this one and this contest will go a long way in deciding who takes the NFC East crown. This matchup gives me Eagles-Cowboys Thanksgiving 2014 vibes. The Eagles just completely dismantle Dallas on Christmas Eve and put themselves in the driver’s seat for the NFC East

41-20 Win, 10-5

Week 17: Eagles vs. Saints (1/1, 1p.m.)

The Eagles will welcome in the new year with a visit from the Saints in Week 17. I’m not sure what to make of the Saints just yet. If they’re vying for a playoff spot at this point in the season it wouldn’t surprise me; if they were completely out of the playoff picture by Week 17 it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll say they’re somewhere in the middle — playing for a playoff spot but needing some things to fall their way down the stretch. Unfortunately for them, the Eagles are hot. Philly puts Jameis Winston and his Saints out of their misery here and get one step closer to clinching the NFC East.

28-17 Win, 11-5

Week 18: Eagles vs. Giants (1/7, TBD)

Depending on how the rest of the NFC playoff picture plays out, the Eagles may or may not play their starters in this one. Nevertheless, New York will be looking ahead to their tee times by this point. The Eagles jump out to a quick two touchdown lead and New York rolls over like the losers that they are. Eagles close out the year on a high note and enter the postseason as division champs.
